Sustainability

The land based production ensures high quality production and stable harvest volumes all-year round, with minimal use of water, electricity and additives. Proximity to the market enables us to deliver unparallelled freshness, without the need for air freight. Our production takes place in a fully closed environment with minimal environmental footprint, both locally and globally, securing a sustainable and safe product.

Learn more about our fish sustainability

Proximar Seafood is a land-based salmon farming company in the process of constructing the first large-scale fish farm for Atlantic salmon in Japan. Our first facility in Oyama is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2023. The capacity is an annual head-on-gutted (HOG) volume of 5 300 tonnes and first harvest is expected in the first half of 2024.

Technology

Our fish farming is based on Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS)-technology, provided by AquaMaof. The industry-leading technology has a solid track record and provides ideal growth conditions for Atlantic Salmon, with low inherent complexity. The system has a high degree of modularity, redundancy and buffer capacity, leading to efficient production and lower operational complexity.

Sustainability

By farming the fish land-based, we are able to produce high quality Atlantic Salmon in a closed environment without impacting our surroundings. Our production is free of medication, without influence from traditional challenges such as lice and microplastics. Producing the salmon locally also means great reductions of carbon emissions from transportation. Proximar has a systematic approach to sustainability, meaning that environmental and social responsibility is integrated into our planning and conduction of our operations. We have received Cicero’ Dark Green classification as a testament to the sustainable nature of our business
